Chris Schneider was appointed to represent the 5th District of the Town of Hempstead in August 2024 to fill a vacancy on the Town Board after the tragic and untimely death of Councilman Christopher Carini. Like his predecessor, Schneider is an impassioned advocate for local quality-of-life and public safety initiatives. In recent years, he has represented his hometown of Seaford on the Nassau County Police Commissioner’s Community Council, served on the 5th District Graffiti Watch Task Force, and has dedicated nearly 20 years of service as Trustee and Vice President of the Wantagh-Seaford Homeowners Association.
Schneider is the Director of Media Relations for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), working to enhance public awareness for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Prior to his appointment to the Town Board, Schneider worked for nearly two decades for the New York State Senate, amassing a wealth of institutional knowledge of government and the important role it plays in the lives of residents. He served as a Director of Communications and a Deputy Chief of Staff, working to connect people with services, organized and implemented community programs, and kept the public and media informed about policy and legislative issues.
Schneider graduated from Wantagh High School, and went on to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst cum laude, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology (with a concentration in criminal justice).
Schneider currently lives in Seaford with his wife and two children.
